MY Body My Right
“Your mother didn’t spend 9 months forming your BODY inside her just so you could hate it and destroy it.”
There are two things that drive every human being on earth
Money and Sex
We know that money buys you everything. Well may be not everything, but the saying goes: “Those who say money can’t buy you happiness, doesn’t know where to shop". But, do you deserve money? Does it come automatically? or you have to work for it?
What about sex? Do we deserve sex? Or it works the same way like money? Put your effort, to get it?
Why is sex most influential factor in humans (actually for every species on earth).
What is it about sex that drives us insane?
when I was working nights, driving back home on an usually empty road, one day I suddenly had to slow down as lot of motorist were blocking the whole road. Wanting to see who the culprit for this blockage is, I noticed that all motorists were slowing down attracted to one bike in the front.
On the bike was a couple with their kid in the middle. Now what was so attractive on the bike for so many guys to slow down? I had a ‘wtf moment' when I saw that all of them were attracted to the woman sitting in the back. Not because she was good looking or she word less clothes. but because there was one inch gap between the lady’s pant and top at the back.
That’s it?!?
Just to have a few seconds more longer look at that one inch of skin, we stoop this low?
We all want sex! Want of Sex make us do crazy things like luring a woman by sending romantic SMSs, to driving long distances and buying her meals, liking what she likes, watching what she wants to see, just to get into her pants? Isn’t it?
Why is it that sex captures so much attention? Or better question is why are we so crazy about sex? (by we, I am definitely talking about all men)
who is a potential rapist?
From the age of 14 till a guy is in his late fifties, he runs behind both money and sex. And even if money doesn’t drive him crazy, sex definitely does.
Is it wrong to have recurring sexual desires?
I think we’re on the right subject now.
Seeing all the hot BREAKING NEWS about rape cases, on TV channels and social media, who ofcourse want to increase their TRP by masquerading like they care about the victim.
Aren't we already jaded with this news like its any other news before flipping on to another channel looking for adventure sports and stop for a peek when you see another woman skimpily dressed?
So by now we all must have the answer to the above question.
“Is it wrong to have recurring sexual desires?”
We all like to believe: NO!
It’s perfectly normal?
So if its normal for you and me, isn’t it normal for a bus driver too. and for a slum dweller, for a cleaner in dhobhi ghat? Yes, you’re Bang On! these are the men recently in limelight for being accused in sensationalized Delhi rape cases.
Whenever I learn rape cases on news relays, one question pops into my mind…
WHO IS A POTENTIAL RAPIST?
Would you believe me if I say that this guy who turns out to be a rapist by the end of his day did not plan to be one when he left home?
So what turns this seeming normal human being into a rapist? Is it the intoxication alone? or would there be any other influence? May be his acquaintances persuade him to take part in this heinous act. But somewhere before taking the decision, a fear must come to his mind, WHAT IF I GET CAUGHT? But still he commits the crime anyway? Why?
Rich Man's Wedding
While we try to think about a rational answer for that question, let’s focus on this rich man who wants to get his son married. Since his son is in right age to get married, now all he needs is to select a bride with right family and money, book a venue, invite friends and relatives and find a priest to perform the rituals and spend for necessities and luxuries of the wedding celebrations, etc., etc., etc.
Now in case of a middle class man’s son’s wedding, all the above activities applies except lesser expense on luxuries. And in case of a lower middle class and lower class weddings, still all those activities apply and again except for no expense on luxuries or may be cutting down on necessities of the wedding celebrations too, the process remains marginally the same.
Now we know that ‘this is what it takes’ for a guy to get married so that he can fulfill his life-long desire to consummate. Do you really think that every boy born in India who embarked on flushing intimate desires since he hit puberty to actually go through the tho whole hooplah of activities and get married just to have sex?
"We say we want Him to — but do we truly hope He will?"
-
"Society ingrains in us that He should — but do we honestly believe He can?"
-
"Our religion insists that He must — but do we really trust that He will?"
Food, clothing, shelter and...
Every time a rape case is sensationalized, we see a minister condemning the crime and promising ‘punishment’ and a hundred/thousands protesters compelling authorities for ‘punishment’, celebrities excoriate on micro blogs, and millions of users expressing disgrace in various social networking sites and a series of debates, news articles, statistics by news channels and daily newspapers all wanting safety measure by authorities and also ‘punishment’ to the accused.
The most stressed word among everything above is ‘punishment’ but if we think about it punishment actually means “something someone is made to do to compensate for a wrongdoing, especially for crime”.
Now that we know that ‘punishment’ is a step to be taken ‘AFTER’ the crime is committed. What are we doing to ensure that the crime is stopped from being COMMITTED?
- Is posting police forces every nook and corner of every city feasible?
- Is enforcing every girl/woman to go through self-protection program possible?
- Is moralizing every guy in the country at all viable?
Do I have answers to my own questions? Unfortunately No! But I clearly understand one thing... that ‘sex is a biological necessity’
If you ponder over the above statement and wonder what it has to do with this whole article, we’ll understand that sex is not a luxury, it’s not an accomplishment for the qualified, but instead is quite frankly a necessity. So where does sex fall in the three basic necessities: food, clothing and shelter?
Is sex the immediate next necessity? No, but thinking it will definitely fall within a stone throw away from those three basic necessitates is not completely insane.
When God made man, he only included these three in their necessities lists, however, we have added a hell-a-lot of things in that list. For example, mobile phone. How many of you reading this, don’t have a phone within a hand reach distance from you? or are you maybe reading on one. You cannot argue that mobile is not a necessity. Even if you want to say it is not, sure you firmly believe it can’t be lived without.
In a country of 1.8 billion people, I am sure that there must be close to 2 billion mobile phones active in India. Simply because almost every one can afford one or two.
This bring to my ultimate question, if a luxury at one time has become an affordable necessity...
WHY NOT SEX?
Saturation Point
Knowing there has been lot of questions in here without any conceivable answers, let dare answer my my earlier question:
Why would a guy commit the crime knowing he might someday get caught?
Because "he needs it!"
NOW! I am by no means condone his heinous act, but there will be a time gap before his 'want' to have sex becomes his 'need' to have sex. That's the saturation point every man goes though.
The trigger point to commiting the crime comes when he reaches his saturation point could be anything.
It could be influence of intoxication or a perverted acquaintance or sometimes even a 2 inch of skin on a woman's back.
Again I I am not saying that show of skin is always inviting for trouble, but we should realize that there may be a POTENTIAL RAPIST nearby nearing his saturation point!
Going back to the days when Delhi Gang Rape case was being ‘blown inside proportion’, my attention was drawn towards another news article the very next day that a principle of a primary school raped a 5 year old girl student (however disgusting it may sound) a protester on TV questioned “was she inappropriately dressed?”
No minister who 'accused school uniforms to be culprits behind rape cases in the country could answer her question. But I would believe that the principal’s saturation point ended right there and this time without any trigger whatsoever.
Among the innumerous news items about rape cases, I wonder what would be the percentage of cases coming out in the open out of the actual incidents. These cases that we get to hear about happened to the victims who dared to come out in the open. How many other victims are 'in' there who are ashamed to expose themselves for being the prey to these predators, we would never know.
One of such news that sickened me to death, when it came out in the open was about another victim who unfortunately attained some kind of sick record for being the youngest rape victim. Can you believe what her age was? She was 40 days old. Yes you’re right 40 DAYS!!!!
After reading that I am sure we are disgusted for being part of the country where such things do happen. What disgusts me more is that our country is nowhere ‘SAFER’ than that EVEN NOW!!! IT could happen again and may be much closer to you/me than we can fear.
And finally back my ultimate question “why not make sex affordable?” of all the heinous acts that happen and end up becoming news, is legalizing prostitution still disgusting thing to ask for?
Let’s think about it?
PS: the attractive image in the beginning of this article (which may have urged you to click on this post) is there to prove that inspite of our education and society inflicted morality we still cannot control our desires and attraction.
I just hope that our saturation point for desires never end.
